Ryzen 5000 Launch Day Locations / Ordering

I am currently trying to decide my game plan for tomorrow. I only want the 5600X. I don't really have any stores close to me that might would carry it at launch, except for Best Buy. I couldn't get my local Best Buy on the phone but I called customer service and asked about the launch. They informed me that they could not find the processor in their system and that if they had it at launch tomorrow they should be able to see it in the system today. Can anyone confirm or deny this claim? If true I might as well spend my time online trying to place an order. What would be the best place online to try to snag one, and also do we have an expected launch time for tomorrow. Thanks in advance!

 

Edit: I have already received several replies about waiting for reviews, bugs to be worked out... etc.. I really appreciate the advice from everyone here, but I am building a new PC. I have waited almost 10 years for this, and the only thing I’m waiting on is the CPU. I don’t mind waiting a while to get it. But this one will be plenty for me and I’m willing to take the chance of bugs or issues by adopting early. I just would like info for launch day only if you have it please and of course any previous launches you may have taken part in would help as well. Thank you!

I would wait with upgrading any components if you can. This is so that you can look at what is out the, independent review and a bit more mature drivers. Personally I will most likely hold on to February or March to build my new system. This way I know what Intel will come with and how that might impact the deals or prices on the 5000 series amd processors.

Honestly, I think that even if AMD gets stock on shelves you're still going to have to be early & lucky to get one on launch day.

 

I will be happy to be proved wrong though.

Try checking microcenter if you have one near you, although I would recommend waiting a couple weeks or months. That'll give you time to check reviews and when you do buy, most bugs should be ironed out by then.

I don't think you'll have too much of an issue trying to get a CPU, they're generally not as hard to come by as an in demand GPU.

Why do you want to get it from BestBuy? I'd just have all the windows open for all of the major online retailers, and pick the one that shows it in stock first.

B&H, NewEgg, there's loads of others. If you go through PCPartPicker and look through the other CPUs, you should be able to have a healthy list to go through.

 

If you've already bought all of the other components it doesn't really make sense to wait; you've clearly already made up your mind ;)
Plus if your PC is quite old, it's not like it's going to make less sense than keeping what you have.

@dizmo Thanks for your response! The only reason I considered best buy is because that is the only store in my area that is even in the realm of possibility having it on launch day lol. I would love to stroll over there tomorrow, pick it up, and be able to build my system soon. But I can't confirm they will even be selling them at best buy anytime soon so online is definitely my best choice. I will for sure take your advice on buying online and hopefully it will ship soon. Maybe the 5600X won't be hard to come by at launch but who knows these days.
