Will bending my headset wire ruin it?

Hi guys I'm a bit OC with my wires and I really find my headset wire being unnecessarily long because I'm already plugging it to a USB splitter. Will folding it and holding it together with zip ties damage it?  My headset is a Fantech HG22 7.1 Surround.

If it stays like that and doesn't move to much it should be OK.

Those kinds of bends are only a problem when you straighten then bend them a lot.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

So it's not really advisable to bend wires like that? As far as I can tell, I think it's a USB 2.0 braided wire.

Make sure you don't wiggle it too much, the copper core can stand some bending, not too much.

From the picture i can say it's ok.

It's stranded copped wires. It can take a massive beating before it ever breaks.

 

I must say, I've never encountered a scenario where the stranded copper snapped within a cable...

Because it will never reach a complete bend due to the plastic sheet covering it.

Yeah that's fine. It's braided and stranded copper so it's made to be bent. Just don't pinch it flat hard

But cables typically break right next to either the plug or the headset since that's where they naturally get bent repeatedly.

Usually, with things like earphones, gamepads and what not, the thing that breaks is not the cable itself. It's the soldering point between the cable and the PCB in the enclosure of the device that breaks away from the constant stress they are put upon.

Ever since switching to a wireless gamepad and toward headphones with a detachable cables at the earpiece, I haven't encountering any sort of breaking, because no stress can be applied to any soldering joints.
