Home hosted public minecraft server

I have made a minecraft server and got it all working i just need some help finding a way to make it public and protect my ip. I've thought of using reverse proxys but can't find a good tutorial on how to set it up. I was wondering if there is a better way to protect my ip from others joining or using my domain.

HowToGeek has an excellent guide on using a VPS hosted through Amazon Web Services to setup a reverse proxy for a Minecraft server hosted on a residential connection, though you can use any VPS provider you like. https://www.howtogeek.com/440752/protect-your-home-minecraft-server-from-ddos-attacks-with-aws/

This was one of the first I tried and I could not get it to work. I googled it and people said it was an outdated tutorial.
