Issue with 10Gbps network card AQC107

Severide1247

Hello.

I have installed a couple of NVMe drives for my cache, but I can't get stable 10Gbps network speeds. I'm using AQC107 network cards in my server and my PC, cat7 ethernet cable. Seems that issue is my Windows 10 instance. If I'm loading from ubuntu live cd on my PC, I'm getting 9.9Gbps. Under windows 10 I'm getting 3.5-4Gbps. What can I do to solve this? Clean install of Windows 10 is not an option right now unfortunately.

what protocol?? What does Iperf show?

What is the source? try testing with a ramdisk?

Hello! I'm using SMB, it shows about 3.5-4Gbps. Iperf shows the same result. But if I'm load from ubuntu live CD, I will get 9.9Gbps in iperf. Seems Windows 10 issue.

Oh my God I have the exact same issue. I hit a hard stop at 3,5-4gbit as well under windows. I haven't figured it out yet either.

For me it didn't either, no. I also tried Windows 7 and had similar results.

Not sure tbh, it's been a while and I haven't bothered with it since.

Will try that again the upcoming week and report back here!

FYI: I've got a Asus C100C in my PC and a Intel X540-T2 in the NAS, both plugged into my Netgear XS508M Switch.

Edit: btw, have you set MTU 9000 / Jumbo frames in every component?

Yes, both in my PC (windows) and my server (unraid). I have network cards based on AQC107 chip. I think this is Windows related issue because ubuntu on my PC works fine -  9.9Gbps.

I tried multiple streams -P 8 flag in iperf. Got 9.8Gbps. Very strange, why single stream is so slow?

Hey sorry for the late reply.

I just gave it a go on Ubuntu live.

In Single Stream I get about 4-8gbit and it averaged out at 6,6gbit. About 50% better than what i get in actual file transfer in windows.

With 4 simultaneous connections I get 9,4gbit which is about what I would expect.

So theoretically the connection is there but windows just doesn't utilize it.

I'll try iperf on windows again, will update this post then.

Update: exactly same result on windows. 6,8gbit single and 9,4gbit multi stream.

Even with -P 2 I only get 6,8gbit but with 3 I get 9gbit.

Update: with the Freenas being the Client, I get slightly faster 7gbit Single stream and still 9,4 multi.

In theory everything works. :/

Update: okay actual file transfer again...

From PC to NAS I get 6,6-7gbit with 1, 2 or even 3 simultaneous transfers, doesn't matter.

From NAS to PC? 3-4gbit not matter how many file transfers.
