yikes, multiple benchmarks showing it barely ahead of the 2080 ti, looks like specific games like bl3/doom puts it ahead but now we know why those games were used.

no...even in older games like assassin's creed and RDR2 that dont have ray tracing at all it's KICKING BUTT"..watch the digital foundry review.

they did release a new video yes.

i don't know where you got that 11% from but it's clearly and easily a lot more than that...anywhere from 25 to 40% is what im seeing.

Clearly the new GPU is head and shoulders above the old one. it's obvious.

bitwit had it at 11%, unboxed has it at 19% (i'm only looking at 1% lows), but ya, it's less than expected, the 30% gains are at 4k only, hoping the 3090 doesn't disappoint.

why only 1% low those are generaly spikes caused by the CPU and rest of the syystem pipeline...you want to see the overall performance of a GPU not a CPU right now so the AVERAGE FPS is what you want to look at for these reviews.

no you dont understand..its not a matter of "being a fan'' of anything...it's logic...it's how life is...everything has a purpose...1% and ,1% lows TELL A LOT yes...but NOT for GPU performance...they are a lot more important when looking at overall CPU and system performance etc.

It's a useless metric here.

no of courseit's not would you imagine that?! come on...maybe in ray tracing full blown and some very select situations...

If on average the 3080 is 80% faster than 2080. Ok I can take it. However it's not quite even that. More like 50- 60%.

Don't get me wrong. It's still very impressive, especially for the price.

compare to the 1080 then...if you have a 2080 you should not even be looking at these reviews right now...unless you have a 2060 you,re set if you have a 20 series card.

So not as impressive as nvidia made it out to be. RIP to the panic sellers. Looks good at 4k though. Wait till the 3080 ti comes out, I reckon it should be around 40-50% faster than the 2080 ti.

If this is what you think based off this singular review, you're quite wrong, go watch more. People panic selling were trying to recoup money, it's still better used on a 3080, meaning if you bought and panic sold a 2080ti, you're stupid for buying it in the first place at the mere mention of a performance increase.

Don't like that he only benched against a 2080ti when most users aren't using one, and it's supposed to be compared to the 2080. Pretty much only Jay and Linus had 2080s in their bench lineup.

but seems in target with what was said on the conference..

2x the RTX performances of a 2080 if full raytracing is implemented, Control is 2x the performance on a 2080..

rasterization is nearly 60% on average on a 2080 (even often an oc edition) in 1080p the difference is smaller, but it seems to be the bottleneck of fps capping and cpu bottlenecks that hits there 4K performance is kig

it runs 1440p at same fps as the 2080 runs 1080p.. that is pulling. 3.6 million pixels at the same speed 2080 is rendering 2 million..

by my standard this is one of the biggest leaps performance wise, and also the things that enables using raytracing in higher resolutions, and this is even without DLSS...

i´m old, so might be easier to impress, but in my 42 years, and 32 years of owning a pc.. i feel like these gains where only when we went from 2d to a 3d PowerVR, 3dFX style card... where we also gained som impressive graphics at the time..

looking at the compute power of the R6000 Big navi, it does seem like, it has to do something special, to get just on par with the 3070... and then it has to be cheap, AMD did not show anything good with the 5700XT, is it a price to performance monster, but the driver issues there was just enough for me not to buy a card like that again (my son has one)

most test are done vs 2080... Jay also tested it against a 2080amp.

and if you look into many charts the 2080 is there, it is just so low compared, that it really is not a fair fight.

I've watched Bitwit, Nexus, Jay, and Linus; Jay and Linus ( and sometimes Nexus) are the only ones actually using the card that this is meant to be compared to. If they used a 2080 Super, they're not making the actual comparison that we're looking for since the Super tier is about 5-10% better than stock.
