I had the exact same thing.  Bestbuy.com has been down for 10 minutes before 6 AM PDT, probably because people got their bots up and running to hammer the site, then Newegg started to have the same issue.  I got one in my cart on Newegg but in the time it took me to get through the Paypal screen it was already sold out.  I don't think this is a limited stock thing, but scalpers on Ebay filling their stockpiles.  I expect the other card releases to go in the same way.  I have been saving for this one for a while and this just pisses me off.

The Norwegian nvidia site still says notify me! So im still in this!!  OOOOR its so few cards that its not even a single card available for most countries. ill guess on the later.....

What makes me sad is that clearly some people are stupid enough to buy from scalpers, or they wouldn't do it.  I know I certainly wont, on principle.

All NVIDIA needed to do was offer pre-orders with one per address to mitigate this.

I was thinking more that the item going on sale was probably automated, but maybe the stock was delayed or someone didn't update the stock on the website.

It just seems suspicious that we haven't received the e-mails which would suggest it was never in stock.

They have been selling 'chances' to get a card all week for $1100-1300, promising that if they get one they will send it to you, and if not, they will just refund the money.

It wouldn't surprise me if they actually don't have any to sell.

They've not actually been added to the Nvidia website product list. There's just the sold out message.

To be honest I think it's a marketing scam. We just have to wait until they actually do have stock to sell and I guess at that point they'll send out the notification emails.

I checked like 8 different sites in Australia and basically all of them were broken for an hour. I managed to get through to 2 of them and God I was disappointed. The one retailer that told us launch time only had one 3080 and it was marked as a preorder, a Gigabyte eagle card. Pass.

 

Other site is the one doing FE edition raffles. Their cards were listed as preorder as well but all the lower end aib cards except for the msi trio x. Luckily I didn't stay up all night (at work) for this sh!t show of an Australian launch. AIB cards are priced $200-$300 above FE here.

 

Edit: PLE had a few more cards like the EVGA and Zotac but of course, all sold out.
