Upgrading to 3000 series, CPU bottleneck issues?

Looking for advice on my rig. I'm planning on selling my current GPU (EVGA 1070) and replacing it with a 3070 or a 3080 if my budget permits. I currently have a AMD Ryzen 5 2600x and am hoping that upgrading the card wont leave my computer severely bottlenecked. I'm just looking to play games and do the occasional render on Blender. I'm far from an expert on this topic and would appreciate the help.

3070 is likely about as high as you'd want to go with that CPU.

3080 will probably get you to ~120FPS and the 3070 will probably average around 90FPS in next gen AAA titles. Your CPU will likely not be the bottleneck for either if running newer AAA titles.

Any suggestions on CPUs that would work well with a 3080 that are still moderately priced?

If I was you I wouldn't even look at that stuff right now. It depends soo much on the game and a 6 core cpu clocked fairly well shouldn't have any issues. I have a r7 1700 undervolted and under clocked and I play at 144hz will pretty decent fps (above 120fps almost all the time) not to mention im under clocked so I would assume most issues you face are software. AKA wait until you have the card to then decide if its worth it for you (your fps won't be any lower now vs then it just might be higher/more consistent).

it's probably like a 10% cpu bottleneck, just get a 3080 and live with it.

Moderately priced isn't really a quantifiable number.

The 4000 Ryzens might work, not sure if they'll work with your motherboard though.

My i5-6600k does +120fps 1440p gaming without any issues (even Pre-OC), yours has a higher base turbo as well. If you can give it a light OC it'll be fine for a couple more years for sure. You also benefit from having a more recent hardware and chipset too so upgrading will be a cinch should you feel a significant bottleneck. I'll be getting a 3080 for sure and I know I won't have any problems cranking settings up for pretty much every title.

 

I'd wait it out for a bit.
