Performance differences on different 3090 GPUs

Hi

Im considering to buy a Asus RTX 3090 TUF OC, it is 3k cheaper than the Asus 3090 Rog strix OC. Wil the more expensive cards give better perfomance or do

they only give better cooling and lower fan noise? Im a fan of Rog strix and have a rx5700 that im happy with, but i want to go bigger and get the 3090 now that ive seen how powerful it is compared to the previous version (2080ti)

But if the f.ex 3090 ROG strix or Aerosus dont give better performance (FPS and Graphics) than the TUF OC im considering to buy the more expensive one.

Wait for the tests and reviews because nobody knows yet.

Has it been so in the previous version? did a Asus 2080ti perform better than a Palit 2080ti f.ex?

historically same class gpus have performed within variance of each other with silicon quality being the biggest difference (good luck in the silicon lottery)

The best custom PCBs are going to be in cards like the ROG Strix and not in the TUF cards.  Those TUF cards will be reference and likely won't deliver the levels of power the custom PCB cards will.  How that translates into performance we probably won't see during this first round of reviews.  I just read those cards aren't ready to go out to reviewers yet.  So how much more performance can be had with the better cards probably won't be known for a little while longer.

In theory, different 3090.should perform within 5% difference and all.of that's based on operating frequency. Problem is we dont know if they will make cards that thermal.throttle all the time, so reviews are needed to answer you

They are almost all the same, except for cooling.

I've had 3 different 2080ti's in the last 4 weeks. One EVGA SC black, then a gigabyte windforce and finally now I have an EVGA ftw3.

Long story, sold the xc black before Ampere launch for $1200cad. The last week traded a 10700k delid and a little cash for the gigabyte, sold that the next day for $800 and baught the FTW3 right after for $950.

The xc black and the ftw3 both perform identically even thought the ftw3 is a custom board design. Both overclocked and scored the same, the FTW3 runs much cooler though. Both are fantastic cards.

Now the gigabyte windforce. Umm wow, what a piece of shit. Still a 2080ti but as cut down as possible. Much of the vrm is pared down and the PCB is the super thin, must be half what the EVGA cards use. It had the build quality of a gt1030.

Even that piece of shit did +850 on the memory and 2100mhz on the core, it even passed heaven at 2300mhz on the core.

However that card ran so hot because of the pared down vrm and pcb, it was crazy. The gpu temps may have been in the 70s but you couldn't touch that backplate with getting burned. It felt like opening a BBQ and putting your hands close to the grill.

So 3 different card's all performing the same, one of which I wouldn't expect to last.
