Overclocking

Will overclocking an igpu heat the cpu, my cpu already heats a lot (90 C on clean boot)

OK, I better not overclock and my igpu is 350Mhz and max is 500Mhz, just 150Mhz

Yeah, at idle. I just cool it down with ice. (like putting ice under the laptop for the cool vapours to go into it)

You're at 90 CELSIUS at idle?  Not Fahrenheit?

 

I would advocate opening that thing up and cleaning it thoroughly.

I'm a noob and I dont want to damage it by opening it up, I have never opened it in 10 years.

And when I'm sitting near it, I feel hot too. (sometimes it crashes due to heat)

Not sure if you use air conditioning or heating in your home but.... it's not as black/white as rise and fall.

 

Ice packs directly under a laptop are perfectly viable.  If you sit on an icepack, will your butt stay warm since cold air sinks?

Your right, I acctually used to do it before, now i flip my laptop at a 90 degree angle and use a table fan to blow into it, while connected to an external moniter.

i'm very intrigued as to how you make a 90° angle laptop with ice and an air fan work without somehow magically shoving water into the system and frying it

Damaging temps are like 100 or 105 mine crashes at around 90 to 95, so I consider it being safe.

eeeh i used my laptop and pin the cpu at 99c for 7 years, 24/7 operation pretty much

it's fine, just annoying

a permanent solution would be to perhaps put fresh thermal paste on

 

those temps are downright unusable and would lead to damage over time.

hot air rises, cold air falls, that's litterally how it works.

now yes if i am in direct contact with the ice then ofc i get cold because the ice is touching me, and yes if i'm not touching but very close to it i might still feel the cold but that's because of the cold coming from the middle trying to find it's way down and stumbeling over itself knocking it slightly up.

 

look at that video, the cold vapor goes down.

Oh this thread is already off topic and borderline silly  90c + ice packs + 90 degree tilt plus fan... you're hanging by a hair with that thing , it's going to fail and I would wager sooner rather than later.

 

If 90c is idle, then load must ping thermal limits.
