Should I buy an 850 watt power supply for the new 12 pin connector from Nvidia relating to the Ampere graphics cards?

There is an adapter from the normal PCIe-connectors to the new 12-pin connector included in the box.

Wait until the cards are released and there is independent reviews of the cards before deciding what you should purchase.

A lot of sources are saying to use an 850 watt power supply for that new 12-pin connector.

You don't need a new PSU just for the connector! You can just use the adapter that comes in the box. Hell, it'd be stupid to buy a new PSU just for a single fucking connector, when the power going through it is the same.

Then why do you ask if you should buy one for the new connector? You do obviously need a PSU, so that makes the question pointless.

OK, yeah, go ahead and get a good high quality 850W PSU then if you need one anyway.

You won't lose anything that's for sure.

Look at Tier A..

I can wait a bit longer if companies are going to release power supplies that have the 12 pin connector integrated.

That could take forever..... FOREVER>>>

Use the suppled cable with the GPU until the PSU companies can supply one to you.

Stick with the Tier A units from Corsair, EVGA, Seasonic etc.

I think I read somewhere that some companies are planning to, but I don't see the point in waiting. The adapter included in the box will work fine, or else it wouldn't be in there. Besides, there's no saying yet if that 12-pin connector will be just a fad; if it'll be just a passing fad and no one else bothers to use it, your fancy new PSU will have a connector on it that's useful only for Founder's Edition Amperes.

That's what I was thinking too, but you never know, the partner cards will use it with the cards based on the reference PCB...

The Custom PCB cards? That's the real question..... I am thinking 3x 8 pin....

I tend to get the cards with the custom PCB myself so....

I hoping that EVGA is not going use it but I think they are mostly like going to use the 12 pin connector.

They already use them now on the KINGPIN..... Just adding one cable... So not too bad really... You could zip tie them together if you really wanted to.... 3 over lapping cables zip tied together.
