Any news on 3080 performance ?

Everything right now is speculation and leaks. We can get leaks of stuff like physical hardware numbers, but in real world performance u will have to wait till september.

I mean yeah, check out Moore's Law is Dead on yt. He has been getting information on Ampere from Nvidia insiders for months if not at least a year.

Even on September 1st we still won't really know since all we will get is cherry picked numbers from Nvidia. We'll have to wait until the review embargo lifts to really see.

If the price leaks are true

 

3090 is $1400

3080 is $800

3070 is $600

3060 is $400

 

My guess is:

 

3090 will give ~10-15% better conventional performance over the 2080 ti with 40-80% better RTX performance

3080 will give ~10-15% better conventional performance over the 2080 Super, with the same 40-80% better RTX performance

3070 will give ~10-15% better conventional performance over the 2070 Super, with the same 40-80% better RTX performance

3060 will give ~10-15% better conventional performance over the 2060 Super, with the same 40-80% better RTX performance

 

In conclusion: my guess is the RTX 3000 series will be the actual retail Ray Tracing cards, whereas the RTX 2000 series was a user-funded proof of concept  beta hardware.

 

I hope I'm wrong and we get huge uplifts on conventional performance, but I'm not holding my breath.

All price leaks are technically incorrect bc they only finalise pricing like hours before the announcement. Also that Ray tracing performance should go way up, like 100-300%, depending on the title. AFAIK the new ray tracing cores are just so much better bc u are right, RTX 2000 was just a guinea pig tech demo.

U do realize that 3090 prices are anywhere from 1600-2000 dollars depending on the leaker right? But don't talk about the prices, they are useless bc other than they will be going down this gen, they don't finalise pricing until hours before the announcement. Like they are backstage picking the best price to advertise.

Hopefully they learned their lesson from the 2000 series - Just changing the names and adding a useless feature and charging the same price isn't gonna go.

 

e.g.

$649 2080 slightly better than 1080 ti same price

$499 2070 slightly better than 1080 same price

$349 2060 slightly better than 1070 same price

 

If nvidia started with the Super cards to begin with at the prices above, to me their reputation would be a bit better.
