You've set your priorities wrong for a gaming system, though regardless, I'd highly suggest waiting a bit longer at least for Ampere/RDNA2, especially since you plan on gaming at 4K.

Oh I didn't list it but I already have an m.2 and 2 hdds, but I was told this new gen4 hd was astronomically faster so i thought this would be worth the money and how much power am i looking at then with this build?

Save some cash on the power supply, (a 650 watt is fine), get regular memory that's not crazy Tridant Z stuff, grab a B550 motherboard and a more reasonable solid state drive, then pick up a 2tb HDD and trade all of those savings for something like a 3080 which will be coming out in 6 days.

Agree with you, although a RTX 3070 would be a better buy for that rig as a 3080 will be overkill.

Can you show me a better psu that's suited for the build? Also why a B550 board and not an x570?

B550 is newer and if you're not going to use all the additional features of an X570, why pay more?

What do you mean by my priorities are wrong, can you elaborate on what you mean?

As in you're overspending on most components and therefore you need to sacrifice on the GPU. Ideally for 4K I'd look at a 2080 Super, which should be able to fit into a $1700 budget just fine.

<removed by staff> Please wait until you can get at least a 3070 as that's up there with the 2080 super. They'll be $599 apparently.

I have heard. Sean didn't mention that he wanted to play Flight Sim. Most people want best bang for buck not overkill.

I'm more interested in just playing my games at 1440p and 4k not really into flight sim.

it was an example of a future game. you don't build your computer to deal with the current games well, you build it so you don't have to upgrade it every time a game that you want to play comes out. of course, this is all a moot point because we don't have pricing or performance numbers that are official yet so we will just have to wait and see

3070 will fit that criteria. Anyone needing to game at more than 144Hz 1440p needs to redefine their life priorities.
