hey guys

could you all help to find a sound card and i know i sould go for a dac but i have a budget of Rs 2500 ie around $40 sooo yeahhh! and i am from India fiio is not a great option as no service centre is something happens and i have a pci x1 slot i will upload the pic

For $40 I would stick with onboard audio and go buy some food. Also this is a period ".". Use it. The grammar Nazi in me is going crazy!

that board looks archaic, I can't remember the last teal PCB I've seen

 

a 30$ card might actually be an improvement in this case

my on board audio sucks to the core it cant support 24 ohms headphone properly and my motherboard is intel dh55pj

i'm using asus xonar DG, which is quite good, for around $40. It has built in headphone amp too.

i did some research i have come up with two options  the asus xonar dgx or dsx. which one should i go for . Its like $10 difference

I read your words first, and it said 'PCI', which is what the DG is. On second take of the picture, I think what you have is 'PCI-E', which is, yes, the DGX. I think DG and DGX is the exact same thing, just the interface that's different (PCI vs PCI-E)

 

Main different is, DGX is 5.1, DSX is 7.1 (other than DTS, sample rate, etc, which is IMO bells and whistles). If you're not too crazy on using 8 speakers for surround sound, maybe the DGX would be better
