Safe to route cables behind motherboard and case? Help

I want to route my case IO cable and one fan cable behind motherboard.. is it safe? Any risk of short circuit or something? In case of a short circuit do all the components get destroyed?

Like between the motherboard and case or behind the motherboard tray?

The very back of the case is meant for this purpose and routing a cable between the motherboard and its tray would also be safe if the cables aren't too large (like I wouldn't route a front USB 3.0 cable there, but a fan cable is fine).

As a rule of thumb: if the cable won't be punctured, it's fine.

That does mean you should double check when screwing in the standoffs, the cable is in the right position.

No no m not talking about first putting cable then motherboard..  i already put motherboard  and pushed fan n front power cable (the thing one not the usb) thru the space n routed.. but was paranoid so again pulled back n routed from outside.. but thinking to redo.. as that gave the pc a very clean totally wireless look..  is there risk of short circuit or something if i route the thin power cable n thin fan cable thru there.. i mean between mobo n case..

Again, if the cable won't be punctured (or squeezed tightly between something) it's totally safe.

Seems it wont..  because the power cable n fan cable r flat..  but m afraid if it leans against a soder point n the heat from the soder ounctures it then what...

That won't happen.

As far as I know the cable will be sleeved with PVC, which has a melting point between 100 and 260 degrees Celcius, which even the warmest points in your PC should not reach.

Would you say it’s safe to route cables between the motherboard and case, but tape the cables to the case so they stay in place?  Or could this melt the tape?

I doubt the tape would melt, but the adhesive material used would probably become not-sticky quite quickly because of the heat.
