Best closed headphones for gaming

Fatemu

Hi,

I'm looking for some closedback headphones for gaming and music. I have a dedicated mic so I don't need a headset and would prefer some dedicated headphones. My budget is around £250. Thanks for the help in advance

I would prefer it so I can have some noise cancelling when studying in public places

i'd suggest checking out some sennheiser headphonpes.

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

Beyerdynamic DT770 is a great choice. But go for the 32Ohm variant if you dont have an amplifier or want to use it mobile.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Sennheiser would be my choice too.

@OP. On important tip: Dont use the volume slider on the headphones. Always regulate the volume on the device or software itself.

what's the difference between the 32Ohm and the normal ones (and the 80 for that matter)

The lower the Ohm, the easier they are to drive. If you plug higher Ohm headphones into a phone for example it's likely very quiet and lacking a lot of dynamic range. If you have the same model with higher Ohm, the audio resolution will be better, but you'll need an AMP to drive them to their potential.

My DT990 600Ohm for example are extremely quiet when plugged into any mobile device and don't sound that good. However if they're plugged into my AMP they sound absolutely awesome and can get very loud.

With your budget, you could go with DT 770 pro 80 or 250 ohm and an ifi zen dac. Perfect for your budget. I think.

Sony CD900st. These are amazing closed backs for that price, better than the Beyerdynamics IMO.  The bass is somehow still impactful even when you turn the volume way down.

But you need to buy replacement pads for it. The stock ones are down right painful. I have these ones https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZY8PGJI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
