For those of you who have/have seen this case, does the vertical mount bracket included with the Phanteks P500a put your GPU too close to the glass? If so, what mount should I use in it's place if I wanted to go with vertical mounted GPU? I'll be using a Gigabyte RTX 2070s Gaming OC.

I'd say yes, unless you only have a true 2 slot GPU and you somehow get a good amount of airflow in front of those fans.

Phanteks, Cablemod and Coolermaster all make vertical brackets that can fir into any case. I went with Phanteks in my friend's PC-O11D (Rainbow 🦆 2020, build log in signature) mostly because that was the cheapest and most available.

Don't have this case, but looking at pics if you have a 3 slot GPU cooler it will be really tight... if it is only a 2 slot then you should be ok (on air). If you are water cooled then the spacing doesn't matter. I do have a phantecs 719 though and the amount of and there is probably 2.5 inchs of room between my 2080ti and waterclock.

That Phanteks still puts it pretty close to the side of the case...do you get good thermals that way still?

Yes, the RX 5700XT with a more aggressive fan curve maintained under 80ºC in a Heaven Unigin loop.

Part of the reason is because of the intake fans directly underneath the card. HOWEVER, it should be noted that due to the internal layout of the O11D, the space between the motherboard tray and the TG side panel is less than it would be in most cases. In the P500A for example, the case supports up to a 190mm CPU cooler height, which is 45mm more (almost 2") than the O11D, which also translates to the side panel being much further away from the GPU fans. So even though your case would not be able to leverage fans directly below the card providing  the fresh air, you'd be more than well off with the volume of air that's accessible directly in front of the card that gets carried in from the front case fans into the GPU cooler.
