A lot of people are already holding out for the new series of videocards. I don't suspect a lot of people will be looking to buy RTX 2000 series cards.

In the past you saw a rise of people buying the 'old'/'current' series of videocards, but that was mainly people looking to run SLI. That is not really a thing nowadays, so the only people buying those cards is people who don't want to wait

eg. the rumor costly cooler etc

A lot of the reason why rtx was so expensive made sense because of the new technology and the ability of that technology (tensor cores etc). While I wish the normal usecase performance was better that's besides the point. I think that it will be similar to pascal were prices drop a lot before the launch and then things equalize once everyone knows were performance stands. I got my 1070ti for $360 zotac amp extreme I believe a week before the 2060 was announced. Then after that the price went way up to right below $500. Just my observations though.

It's Nvidia, as long as they offer the best stuff they could get away with it. What does AMD have anyway?

They have the best performers so they can charge whatever the hell they want for it and nobody can do anything about it.

what do you mean by that? usually if new gen stuff is coming, they stop production for old stuff and focus on that afaik.
