Keurig taking DRM to a whole new level.

_tylermatthew

actually the keurigs are really good, and with really cheap strong Costco brand K-Cups (wonder if they are legit or not)

I've tried them, and it doesn't even come close to freshly ground coffee in a French press. Most one-touch button coffee makers, especially ones like Keurig or Verismo, aren't as good as freshly ground.

well freshly ground yeah but I'm too lazy to have to deal with grinding coffee.

Five minutes total grinding coffee, boiling water (in parallel with grinding). A good grinder grinds in under 15 seconds, a good kettle boils in about a minute. French press times are usually about 3-4 minutes depending on how strong you want it.

The actual effort is minimal. Just time spent waiting a bit (during which you can easily multi-task other things).

Too much for me, get up and slowly make my way to the keurig which auto turns on based off of time and I hit a button.

The only time I use the french press is for special occasions when I have company over.

To all the people against this, go buy a real coffee maker:

I was surprised to see someone post this and then I looked at your location and was even more so. I never expected an American to post what you did.

And you are right by the way that is the only way to make good coffee, here in Italy real coffee is made with a moka with the local bars(that's what we call coffee shops) being the only exception.

well ill have just have to make sure my keurig machine stays in good shape then.

Ha! A Keurig staying in good shape, that's a good one. I've gone through a couple of these things because they are the literal definition of 'designed obsolescence'. I practically babied my machines, they looked brand new the day I had to throw each of them out because their pumps and heating elements were dying. This coffee DRM BS is just the icing on the cake. I don't know how many others share the same sentiment, but once my current machine dies I'm done with Keurig for good.

Ha, I'm only Amarican because I was born in the USA, otherwise I'm Romanian. And yes, Moka is the only way to get good coffee at what I consider a resonable price. My father as of late has been thinking about picking up a espresso machine, although the cost of one is outragous.

Personally:I feel as if the Keurig has always been a gimmick. And drip coffee taste's more like tea than anything.
