X570 or B550 Mobo recommendations for first build -- plan to upgrade later

I am doing a first build in an NZXT H510. For now I have a Ryzen 5 3600 but am planning to upgrade to the 4000-series processors or an 8-core one like the 3700X. I don't think I will be overclocking. I will be paring the processor with a Crucial Ballistix 16gb 3600MHz CL16 ram.

The motherboard needs to have:

  • internal USB-C 3.1 connector that the case has

  • enough case fan headers as I am intending to have 3-4 case fans

  • m.2 slot

  • and preferably built-in Bluetooth

Of course the cheaper it is, the more I can spend on graphics card and games, but also I want a good enough board to last and have nice features. I am flexible with size, but the case can take ATX, so that is also preferable to take full advantage of the case. Any recommendations?

It looks better.

I have the predecessor, the S340, and even with a hefty OC and a hot and hungry card, it's fine.

im not sure about the s340, but the h510 certainly lacks good airflow, it's not bad but compared to things like the p400a or the mesh c or the lan cool mesh 2, it's disappointing sadly.

Same thing, slight updates.

It is not an amazing airflow case, never was, never will be. But it's pretty and for the most part it works.

The S340 has air filters; I presume the H510 does as well since its a later iteration.

Of course appearance is subjective. I don't really like the ventilated front cases, despite knowing they are better.

Yeah, it's a lot.

I have personal experience with the ASUS X570 TUF Gaming Plus, which is in this range. I think anything in this range in the $150-200 range would do well for you and any foreseeable 4th gen CPU (well the 500 series anyway)

Tier A: 200A current draw on little ambient airflow, maxed out 3950X on ambient cooling, 2700x on LN2

Asus: X570 X570-F, TUF Plus, Prime Pro, Crosshair VIII Impact, X570-I, X570-P, B550 TUF Plus (mATX & mATX WiFi), X470 Crosshair VII Hero, X370 Crosshair VI Extreme

Asrock: X570 ITX/TB3, X470 Taichi (Ultimate), X370 Taichi, Professional Gaming

Gigabyte: X570 Aorus Ultra, Pro (ATX), B550 Aorus Pro (& AC) (ATX)X470 Gaming 7

MSI: X470 M7 AC, B550 Mortar

$169 for the TUF B550-Plus, which is a Tier A up to 3950x motherboard.

B550 Gaming Edge WIFI seems to fit all your needs, though it's around $180. The B550 Aorus Pro AC is around the same price and has an arguably better rear IO, but lacks the internal Type-C connector.

I'm not sure whether ASUS' TUF B550-Plus WIFI has a Type-C connector, but that's around $160.

The cheapest option would probably be getting a B550-A Pro and adding in a PCIe WIFI card.

Yeah fair enough, unless they include an adapter with the case so you can plug it into the regular 3.0 connector, but I'm not aware whether they do or not.

In that case, my pick would be the B550 Gaming Edge WIFI.

It took me a long time to decide the case, but now I am considering to just go for the meshify c.

meshify c has better air flow but is kinda ugly and a bit bigger.

h510 looks really nice but has less air flow. It would also have better acoustics because it is closed, right?

any other aspect that I am not considering?

In my experience the ventilated front cases tend to get dusty and ugly fast. So invest in a lot of canned air or whatever method you use to clean, and do it reguarly.

And if it's not getting dirty up front, then it's not filtering and it's getting all dirty inside.

Half the reason I like the S340/H510 is that the front is flat, and the filter is behind it. Not as much airflow, but effectively hides dust and dirty portion.

I have an h500 with an overclocked 2700x, gtx1080 and rx570 (for virtual machines), system never throttles or anything of the sort, playing some heavy titles under 100% load my 1080 will hit 79-80 but that's it, don't do anything heavy on the rx570 but it idles at 40C. CPU barely goes past 65C under full load (I do have a bit of a beefy cooler). Dust is really the only "problem", gets a bit more dust build up than other cases but its not like a daily clean, I personally do it every 1-2 months (should do it more :P) and its pretty easy to clean the front filters anyways, but cleaning more always helps lol. Terms of noise on idle my system is dead silent and under full load it's audible but nothing like a turbine engine, I'd assume would be similar to most cases anyway.
