What isn't happening that you want to happen?

iE - What's troubling YOUR CPU now?

Or are you just hit by the upgrade bug...?

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I wonder this sometimes when I run my huge excel sheets and they chug away saying calculating... 12 threads...

Gaming will be a downgrade.

Most other things will be imperceptible.

Some heavy CPU stuff like rendering/etc. will be greatly improved.

If you have the upgrade bug, consider other things.

I was considering upgrading, but ended up just spending the money on peripherals and displays.

I'm in the same boat too..

4790K 4.7Ghz has some strong IPC, but the amount of cores is lacking for the smoothest experience.
Luckily... GTX1070 not a 2080Ti but the Nv3000 series has me eying 3900X (video project boosts) and ample CPU for years to come.

But 2nd Gen wasn't enough, 3rd Gen gets there,.. but without a GPU to worry about yet,.. I'm not phased until the end of the year.

Why do you recommend zen 3? What's better about zen 3?

I mean I dont really know what else to get though. I'm fine with my monitor and everything else. I have a 4k monitor, wireless headset, wireless/wired keyboard, and a decent mouse that I have no issues with. My motherboard has built in wifi so it's not like I need a wifi card or something. I currently have 1tb of SSD and 2tb of HDD so I'm good on storage. I kinda feel like I could get a better CPU for better performance. Here's my current build though https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VThyRk

if u have an upgrade bug and go from 8700k to 3900x ull be disappointed of the single core performance difference, wait for zen 3.

IMCs have improved dramatically in the last 2 gens, so remember to get the best ram u can afford and have some fun (just ram alone can have a 5-10% diff), u can uhh even do that now since u have a hero 😝

no unless you need the 12 core, the 8700k is still good, what made you want to upgrade?

if you really want an upgrade wait for zen 3 and then decide if you want to switch to a different platform.

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

Yeah I'm sure my ram could use an upgrade haha but will zen 3 support ddr4? I have no problem with waiting if it's gonna be more bang for my buck.

Well I've definetly noticed a really high cpu usage when playing warzone and trying to and the same thing with star citizen but my biggest thing is that I want a smaller build that looks nice and clean. I don't really need rgb or anything fancy like that as I kinda planned for the parts to be hidden and to not have a see thru case
