ASUS VG258QR vs LG 27GL650F (TN vs IPS) need help deciding

Rohith_Kumar_Sp

need help in making purchase, for Gaming and Editing, i want to know which is preferable, not pro gamer but game a lot, but i currently am using IPS panel for pitch blacks, i like small monitors but i'm confused what to get

24 inch TN panel or 27 Inch IPS panel which is cheaper (how is a 27inch IPS panel significantly cheaper than a 24inch TN?)

The TN panel supports 165Hz which is probably why it's more expensive. Since in my opinion that's pretty much snake oil I'd go for the other one which is larger and is going to have much better colors and viewing angles (as well as being cheaper).

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

If you hate your eyes and want to punish then, TN

If you want a good display with proper image quality, IPS

Bear in mind that the more expensive panel is 1080p full HD and the LG is 1440p HDR 10.

You might need to google what that means in terms of viewing pleasure.

All I can say is that I have the LG, it is a good monitor - good enough that I just bought another one for a dual monitor set-up with them.

I have an easy answer for you, the Asus one hasn't been reviewed by a trustworthy site.

I like to recommend these two for the ~300USD

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/27gl650f-b

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/asus/vg279q

And if you want to save few bucks, this one is also a good option.

And lastly I'll add this table tool so that you can see if any other monitor peaks your interest.

LG is FHD not 1440p, its 144hz

i've been using Dell IPS since 2014, can't remember when but i don't really want to go back to TN.

yeah i saw this before posting it here https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/asus-vg279q-vs-lg-27gl650f/758/929

but it was for Asus VG279Q not VG258Q so couldn't find a proper comparison, i had a Viewsonic Monitor back in 2007-2012, the link you gave is of TN panel, i think i'll go for LG, since i do a lot of comp work/editing, need more leg room.

Sorry, i thought you were talking about that monitor, just looked at your link and realised you were talking about a different one.  Dunno where I got the idea that you were talking about the 850-B.

I would say, why not save up and get the 850-B though, it is a great monitor, and only like 9,000 of whatever those things are more than the linked expensive one.

well for one its not listed in Amazon so my only options are that of Asus 24 165hz or LG 27 144hz or there's one from Acer i don't like buying it called Acer Nitro VG270P IPS as its free sync not G-Sync.

Where do you think I got the price of 9,000 more than the 26,500 expensive monitor?

This is also the second one in the list from the link that you posted.

It is a 27" IPS 1ms 1440p monitor with G-Sync, and it is a good monitor.

holyshit that's almost 1.5 times more than my salary, you gotta understand the prices are insanely expensive here, i really don't want a 1440p monitor right now, i'll stick to FHD.

also i never found that listing in my "144hz IPS panel" search for some reason
