maybe thats the max configuration you can buy from hp and even if there is 1 slot i dont see why you cant put a 16gb module into that 1 slot

Some mobos have a RAM limit like my laptop couldn't upgrade that

why did they not build the motherboard to jedec's standards? otherwise im pretty sure its the cpu itself that limits the ram

Not sure why, my laptop could be the cpu but that one I'm not sure
