Hi guys so I have an TP Link AV1300mbps powerline and it worked perfectly fine when our internet was 200mbps. But it’s been upgraded to 500mbps and I can’t get the powerline to go past the speed of 220mbps.

Honestly iv tried everything I just don’t think it will get any faster but I need to get a 500mbps ethernet connect into my room. Ideally I would get a ethernet to my room but I don’t think my mum would want the cable going around the house.

Is there another solution I can try? Maybe a more powerful powerline but TP link only does 1 more powerful unit and plus this current one is rated for 1300mbps.

Yeah that’s what iv come to think the issue is. Do you know of any other solutions like powerline or is the only option ethernet now?

Wireless or ethernet, that's pretty much it.

If you have leftover coax in your house: MoCA. Otherwise? Ethernet or Wifi.

powerline will basically never hit the rated speed, those speeds your getting are epxected.

Hmmm we might have an coax going from the modem into the attic. Then i’ll just wire an ethernet into my room from there. Thanks i’ll look into MoCa

If you can't run ethernet cable, then IMO you might have to settle for wi-fi.You could always try an access point if your parents are amenable to the idea, and run that as close to your room as possible from the router. This would also require you to use an ethernet cable from the router to the access point, but it might give you a higher speed and ping than your routers wifi currently does.

I would definitely say ethernet is the better way to go though, is there any way you could run an outside cable to get to your room from the router?

You're really at the mercy of the electrical grid in your house. I have the same thing for an upstairs office and although it works better than trying to connect to the wifi downstairs, I'm getting nowhere near the speeds I get on wifi on the first floor.
