Upgrading from an i5 8400...

Hey forum, i'm currently looking for a CPU to replace my i5 8400, as it seems to get pretty overworked while i'm playing games like Vermintide 2 and Watch dogs 2. I don't know what would be better, but i have heard alot about AMD Ryzen being better. What would you guys suggest?

New amd ryzen cpu's are coming out. Ryzen 3000 refresh in september and the new ryzen 4000 series in fall. So if you can wait do so. If not a 3600.

AMD is generally considered better because it gives you similar performance to intel at a cheaper price. In your case I think it would be crazy to swap to ryzen when you can upgrade to an 8700k or do a bios upgrade and grab a 9900k. Even if the upcoming ryzen 4000 series does outperform the 9900k or 8700k it would be by such a small amount that it would be virtually imperceptible. I would save your money and just upgrade to a better intel CPU. However, if you’re willing to sell your intel cpu and mobo then it might make sense to switch to ryzen.

100% although f instead of k, for intel a “b” series mobo can’t overclock. Also, intel usually gives Gaming performance gains over their amd opponents

Nice catch, I didn't pay too much attention to the mobo. That will save a nice bit too.
