Follow up, upgrade now or wait??

So I have a Ryzen build you can check out on PC parts picker if you feel so inclined https://pcpartpicker.com/b/Hnq48d

The breakdown

1700x - With a stable OC of 3.9

Fractal Design S24

Gigabyte GA-AX370 Gaming K7

16Gb G Skill DDR4-3600

970 evo NVME 500GB +2tb ssd

I recently upgraded my rx580 for a 2070 super

So I have been kicking the idea of getting a 3600 to swap out for the 1700x, given sizable performance boost to the 7nm Zen 2 architecture.

Do you all think this would be a worth while move to do? I will be loosing out of 2 cores but from what I have read the 3600 stomps the 1700x in both single and multi threaded applications.

Watching Gamers Nexus revisit of the 1700x, some gaming applications see 30%+ boost in performance.

The only thing with that is I would need a mobo upgrade as the x370 from what I have read won't have support for the 4000 series cpu's.

My thought process was to get a good 30% boost in performance with a single point upgrade and ride that for a little while??

Sounds like a unanimous decision to hold up. If anything when zen 3 does come out maybe the 3000 series chips will have a discount as amd has done in the past when the new new is launched.

Thanks
