RGB is mostly an option, much like people who put lights all over their cars. It's usually completely pointless to do unless you're using the desktop in some kind of show-room environment, or are DJ'ing something and need light synchronization. At home, there's nearly no practical reason and the PC as mood lighting is no better than LED color-changing bulbs. Yes it looks cool for some situations, but mostly you're just burning energy to light up a space you're not looking at most of the time.

My previous desktop chassis came with fixed RGB lights in the front facing fans that I eventually replaced with better non-LED PWM fans, and as a result less light pollution and noise in the room it was used in.

My main problem is high end/performance parts almost always having RGB. At least in cars you have a choice.

You can usually just turn it off in software. But the extra cost of the LED's aren't refunded in doing so.

Yup. Even better if they made it in UCP but alas, they do not. I remember some brand, don't remember who exactly, had white/gray/black camo pattern printed right on the board itself. Looked pretty good honestly. I understand it looks tacky as hell but I liked it.

I can see what you mean but only in white/gray boards. Actually now I think of it the brown camo would be a good match with noctua fans
