Problems with 4 Way SLI

OctanGaming234

So, I have been having this problem where all 4 GTX 980Ti's start making some weird noises (I assumed they were coil whine) however after I turned on my PC again, The whine went away, But whenever I play a game such as GTA for example, The screen is divided into 4 parts horizontally but very faintly. (I'm guessing the GPU's are not in sync maybe due to something wrong with my SLI config? idk) Now,

Damn, so it's got to do with my SLI setup where there are too many GPU's, Well the PC doesn't even start no more so I cant care less. XD. Might get Quadros tho as u said.. I think I should reslot my cards and the SLI bridge since im getting no output to the screen atm

Doing a multi GPU set up today is a waste of money especially for gaming. New games don't even have multi GPU support, so it would be absolutely pointless for you to buy 4 quadros(not even gaming cards) or even 4 GPUs in general for a gaming machine now. If you use the computer as a workstation as well where you would actually utilize them then it might be worth it, but just gaming? Hell no.

It sounds to me like one or more of the cards may be failing. You should test each card individually one at a time before doing anything else.

1) sell the four GPUs

2) Buy one good GPU

3) Enjoy gaming without any issues or horrible fps scaling

Sli is as good as dead and more than 2 gpu's never really worked well ever. Gta V is already a game that doesn't really like multi gpu so it's a wonder it even worked with 4. Don't bother doing any multi gpu setup nowadays as it's a pure waste of money.

Outside of high-tier workstations that have multiple GPUs linked via the full NVLink interface for productivity and rendering, SLI for gaming has pretty much been irrelevant for a few years now and I really doubt it'll make a resurgence because more and more games have just not bothered to support it due to technical challenges.

You'd be better off going with a single enthusiast-oriented GPU like a 2080 Ti or its successor if you're after ultra high-performance gaming.

The Workhorse (AMD-powered custom desktop)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X | GPU: MSI X Trio GeForce RTX 2070S | RAM: XPG Spectrix D60G 32GB DDR4-3200 | Storage: 512GB XPG SX8200P + 2TB 7200RPM Seagate Barracuda Compute | OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

The Portable Workstation (Apple MacBook Pro 16" 2021)

SoC: Apple M1 Max (8+2 core CPU w/ 32-core GPU) | RAM: 32GB unified LPDDR5 | Storage: 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD | OS: macOS Monterey

The Communicator (Apple iPhone 13 Pro)

SoC: Apple A15 Bionic | RAM: 6GB LPDDR4X | Storage: 128GB internal w/ NVMe controller | Display: 6.1" 2532x1170 "Super Retina XDR" OLED with VRR at up to 120Hz | OS: iOS 15.1

You sell it and buy a better GPU.

Unless you have a 2080ti or titan RTX there is no need for a second one.

Check if the game has a somewhat working sli scaling and contemplate if investing over 1k is worth it for a single game or maybe 2.
