Music is transmitted along with the microphone signal

SpaghettiCarbonara

Hey guys, I've run into a bit of a weird problem that I can't really explain in the title.

So when I'm in a call on skype or steam, it seems the person on the other end can hear my music, even though I'm using closed headphones. I tested that it's not my mic picking it up from my headphones by taking my headphones off and letting them listen, it didn't change apparently. It doesn't seem to happen with YouTube or other things like in-game sounds.

Any help would be really appreciated.

I'm using;

Windows XP 32bit

Sennheiser PC350 Special Edition

Windows Media Player 11

Realtek HD 5.10 audio drivers

Edit: Sorry guys, they CAN hear in-game sounds.

Get audacity and try to record something while listening to music to see what it sounds like first. Are you sure it's not just on really loud or the mic is very sensitive?

Surely the other person wouldn't even hear you this way?

Have you installed something like Virtual Audio Cable? Perhaps your media device is set to output through it so that songs are played as outputs through skype/teamspeak. Just a guess. :)

Either way, I'd probably download something like VLC Media Player and give it a go.

Tried this and it sounds like music is being played in the background, but when i take off the headset it doesn't sound any louder.

There's no option for this. I'm on XP btw :)
