1650 with better cpu or 1660 ti with worse cpu ?

Skellter

So my friend wants to buy a laptop. And he doesn't know if he should take an i7-9750H ,16 gb of ram and 1650  or i5-9300H , 8 gb ram with 1660 ti on it. They are almost at the same price. I guess the ram doesn't matter that much cause you can just buy more ram and that's it

Depends on what he Needs it for. 1660 ti will be better in gaming (better GPU) and 9750H (2 more cores) will be better at anything else. He should really take a look if the newer ryzen 4000 Laptops fit in his Budget as they are flat out better (and mostly cheaper) than the Intel parts right now.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

yep as @Stahlmann98 said ryzen laptops will most likely have a better value than either of those.

What kind of games do you plan on gaming?

Overall, the choice weighting towards gpu is better for gaming, but not always. Civilization for instead is highly cpu intensive

Look into ryzen laptops

More cores and a better ipc

If your limited by these options a 9300h with a gpu with a bigger frame buffer is always better

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

I'd say so yeah. On some titles there might be a slight cpu bottleneck, but the i5-9300H isn't a bad cpu to begin with.
