Which build is better for gaming?

Budget (including currency): No more than $1350 USD (not including peripherals or case fans)

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 75% gaming 25% Schoolwork (college)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I am looking for 1080p possibly 1440p gaming at 144hz with decent fps. I'm trying to figure out which build would be best for my needs, I know that the 3600 is a great bang-for-the-buck CPU all around but is it the best out of the two for gaming? I am not making any changes to the gpu or storage.

Intel Build:

AMD Build:

the difference between the 9600 and 3600 in gaming are very small and only visible when using the 2080ti on a 1080p screen.

the 900 series from intel has now been replaced, so you're basically buying into a discontinued platform.

I advise to go with the 3600 or if you have more money to spend, with the intel 10600k

If you cant get 10600k (after all the mobo goes up in price), get 3600 and throw in an aftermarket that isnt the 212 Evo, say the 212 Black or Freezer 33 or 34. 212 Evo's design is old and not really cheap

3600. Buying a 9600K makes literally 0 sense considering Comet Lake just launched.

Also, you can get a 512GB Sabrent Rocket for $10 more than the Crucial P1, and it's more than worth it. The P1 is not a great OS drive.

Since you have the same GPU, RAM, and similarly classed CPUs I'm not sure there's a large difference between them, but for price-to-performance I'd go with the Ryzen 3600

The difference in overal cost would give you a better GPU and it's a no brainer.

The 9600K makes no sense. Either splurge a lot on the 10600K (careful to get the good stepping as there is one without STIM and with shit paste) or just get the 3600.

If it were my money, I'd buy the 3600 and use the saved money on more storage/better RAM/GPU/case or some games
