240FPS on fortnite

So my setup includes

Asus B450 Motherboard 

1080ti Mini

AMD Ryzen 7 2700x 

500w PSU

250GB SSD

1TB HD 

question for me would be could this setup run fortnite at 240 FPS I have two 165hz msi monitors already but looking to get a third that has higher frame rate (240hz) specifically.

If you don't push everything to the very max and use 1080p, probablyish. But if you main goal is best FPS possible, you should consider Intel (10600K-10900K).

 

If you already own this system you can literally test it yourself with a frame counter software to check if you already achieve 240FPS.

His limit will be the min 1080 Ti. Even with an i5/i7/i9, he won't see more frames per second since the bottleneck is the GPU cooler.

Just barely i'd say. Will dip below 240 sometimes, depending on your settings. The lower your settings, the more it utilizes your CPU's power. If it's a 3700x then sure no problem.

Small cooler or not, a 1080 ti is a 1080 ti. It's not dropping to 1080 levels of performance with the zotac mini cooler.

 

For high refresh fortnite, the second gen ryzen CPU is the hindrance.

He won't be running max settings if he's pushing for 240 fps, so if he's going for lower settings the bottleneck would be the CPU.

It's not really, fortnite isn't exactly light on the GPU

He'd have to be running at 720p - fortnite's optimization is pretty crap but I don't think it warrants a CPU upgrade.
