Lol, I got my given name from a Parkstan friend Sami, I thought Sami is a good name, kinda like my Chinese name, my surname is luo. So here you go Sami luo. haha

I was born male. I'm transgender. Through my early childhood my mother would tell me stories of how the doctors always told her I was going to be a girl, every ultrasound, every test, everything said I was going to be a girl. She had my name picked out, my room set up, all my toys picked out. (A difficult thing on a military base,) I was told if the test were right then my name would have been Devan Arianne Marie. When I was first starting to realize my transgender-ness, and that I felt my body did not match my identity I struggle with names for a long time. I found I was naming myself after people who were influential in my life. My elementary school best friend (Tiffany), my third grade teacher I despised (Morgan), my half brothers step-mother (Say that 5x fast, Nikki.) None of them worked, and it took me a long time to realize none of them worked because I had a name all along. My name is Devan Arianne. I'm lucky enough Arianne isn't a typical name that I can use DevanArianne as a username, so it IS my name. It's not just my username, it is who I am, which is why it's so special to me. 

As to why she chose Devan Arianne:

It's a long tradition in my family to have 3 children and give them all D names. I have 2 older brothers, both have D names. But Devan/on/in what one of the most common names of my birth year, 92. So she added Arianne. 

 

 

Also just to add, when I came out to my mom and told that someday I want to get my name officially changed, she broke down into tears saying "I always knew you were my little girl," Needless to say, I cried too. Thank you for letting me share.

my name comes with a story

but the details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin?

 

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

My username comes from my attempt to make merge together my first and last name. Amazingly enough, it's one of those names that is just weird enough to rarely ever have been used by someone else! I use the same name for my twitter name and my YouTube name for that reason alone lol.

When i was small at daycare my nicname was b-boy and when i went to create my first email( still use it to this day ) and thought to my self im older now lets do bman as my name but supprise that name was taken so my hockey number was 7 that year and my ball hockey number was 12 so bman712 was born. Later when i went to create a xbox account bman712 was taken so i added a the to the front to get Thebman712 wich has been my username for 3 years now and when Thebman712 is taken i mix caps

My nickname is my lastname directly translated from danish to english, whereas the danish name for Wool (Uld) is "mispelled" Ul in my lastname, being Ulstrand. So it's just a funny way to translate my lastname basically. The funny thing about my nickname is, that after I discovered this, and showed it to my dad, he laughed and said that he had been using the exact same nickname when he was a kid. Pretty neat
