850W enough for 2080 Ti + R9 3900x?

Hello everyone

 

I was going to build a high-end gaming system. Now I'm just concerned if the RM850x has enough power to take care of these high-end components. Thank you in advance!

bad airflow case. Get better one like corsair 220t airflow or pure base 500DX

bad motherbaord get asus x570 tuf wifi instead.

what for you need that ssd. games do not utlize that speed you are fine with other ssds like adata sx 8200 2tb for example

total overkill psu. your setup consumes under 500w anyway so any good 600w unit will be plenty.

get aircool instead. be quiet dark rock pro 4 beats that aio cooler.

My RTX 2080 tis use between 350 and 387 watts max. My 5ghz i7s use 152 watts overclocked.

 

I am fine with a 860 watt PSU. 

 

850 watts is what most 2080 ti owners use and some users on the EVGA forum use about 600 watts with delidded Intel CPUs and FTW3 Ultra 2080 tis with no issues.

I agree with the above,

 

X570 TUF Gaming

Don't get Gen 4 SSDs, you won't utilize them, and they get hot, and are expensive. Get like a SX8200 Pro like suggested above.

 

You also really don't need a 3900x if you're soley gaming. You won't utilize all 12 cores at all. A 3700x will net you essentially the exact same FPS in game, and you won't look like the guy who bought a workstation CPU for looks.

True. I do some video editing too though - I just want to go all out with this build idk

Sadly I don't really like the look of the cpu cooler type like the dark rock pro 4.

What makes you think that? There’s nothin that says when next gen consoles come out (also then ryzen 4000 is out...) that says games will start using 12 cores. Not true.

I’ve also done editing/streaming, etc on my my 3800x and from a casual standpoint there’s no difference. They both are amazing.

Games aren't going to magically make the jump to full out 8c/16t overnight. It's going to take years and several CPU generations before that happens..

 

People also said the exact same thing when the PS4/Xbox One were released in 2013 with 8 core CPUs.
