I haven't been on iOS is quite a while, but I remember there used to be a way to use the volume slider in the menu with a bunch of different buttons that I forget the name of, I think you access it by swiping down on the battery life icon. The slider gives you access to many more steps than the side button does, although I don't know that it will get quiet enough for your needs. Its also quite finicky to do it that way

What version of iOS? If it's one of the newer ones, you can swipe down diagonally from the Battery Icon.

As said, the Control Center allows you to get more fine tune controls

I apologise for commenting this but in the same way I'm obligated to say "this is why I don't ever recommend USB microphones" every time someone has an issue with one,
This is why I'll never recommend Apple devices, user friendly? maybe but an absolute pain in the ass whenever you want a feature that's been around on Android for generations? Absolutely.

Also, maybe this really old post will be useful.

The solutions don’t apply for me as this isn’t an iPod and I’m not using the music app.

im wondering if anyone knows of any other updated ways available now.

The only thing I can think of is to get an in-line volume control - similar to this:

https://www.amazon.ca/Stellar-Labs-1013015470-Control-Headphones/dp/B008DJTB32

You could try to jailbreak your iOS device, but even that won't necessarily guarantee you doing what you want. That simple adapter should do exactly what you need.

Inline volume controls are something most people actively avoid when buying headphones as they introduce a massive point of failure and have a tendency to break in weird and wonderful ways that result in volume differences between the left and right sides. I definitely wouldn't suggest purchasing one.

Do you suggest an alternative solution? Because I see no other option.

OP shouldn't even need a DAC or amplifier for something like an iPad, iPhone or iPod. If OP has an iPhone 6s+ or older or an iPad Air 2 or older or iPad Pro (first gen I think he can just plug his headphone into the headphone jack. If he has a newer Apple device use the dongle

I don’t disagree. I’ve had various iPhones and they all sound great with my HD 6xx and HD 598’s. But if the OP is adamant, at least I’ve given him an option.

How is he using a DAC with it? Can the charging port accept usb devices? Never used the charging port on my iPad or iPhone for anything other than charging.

There are dongles for that.

He does not need it, but it improves sound quality quite a lot.

I thought so too, then I tried a dac and the quality difference was very noticeable, no matter how cheap or high end headphones or dac combos I used the difference was noticeable, mileage may vary though.

Yes, definitely, earsplitting volume is always better quality audio than reasonable volume decent headphones......

Sarcasm is a cool thing. So if he uses a dac it only means that it's just makes it louder and does not improve quality?Or what do you mean? You are the pro here, please educate me.

I use this https://www.amazon.com/AudioQuest-DragonFly-Red-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B01DFMV4NQ  with ipad, when volume is on 1 my ears are far from bleeding.

The Audeze Cipher DAC is under 130USD.....
And the EL8 Titaniums are about 250 used or a $500 street price IIRC...

Really not sure where you get your prices from.

Couldn't find the Cipher Dac anywhere for sale, only found Cipher DAC from other manufacturer and that costs 5k, now I found the right one :D Titaniums in my country go for around 700 euros which is around 760 usd.
