Hello all,

I currently am on a AM3 platform with the AMD FX 6300 Black

12G DDR3 ram

GTX 760 sc

thermal take 700 watt power supply

I want to upgrade to the AM4 platform, but should I ?

or should i just get a better graphics card ?

I'm only gaming on a 720p tv as my monitor so I don't need to be pushing out 4K graphics.

I was thinking of doing a budget build of

AMD Athon 3000g

2x8GB corsair rgb 3200mghz DDR4

XFX RX 570 4GB

Gigabyte B450M DS3H

would this be a good platform to start with ?

my budget is around 350, though i can push it a little.

I'd also look into a 240GB SSD for around $40 if you can squeeze one in if you don't have one already.

Your parts list isn't bad, but are you getting stuff like a new case or PSU? Ryzen 3 3100 just released, and ti outdoes the 3000G but without onboard graphics, but u are getting an RX 570 so it doesn't matter.

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

Current setup: Ryzen 5 3600, MSI MPG B550, 2x8GB DDR4-3200, RX 5600 XT (+120 core, +320 Mem), 1TB WD SN550, 1TB Team MP33, 2TB Seagate Barracuda Compute, 500GB Samsung 860 Evo, Corsair 4000D Airflow, 650W 80+ Gold. Razer peripherals.

Also have a Alienware Alpha R1: i3-4170T, GTX 860M (≈ a 750 Ti). 2x4GB DDR3L-1600, Crucial MX500

And while partpicker has the 3100 listed to buy .. Amazon doesn't .. just says available soon. I'm kinda looking to buy today cause Amazon won't ship until Thursday

Because they haven't been released yet, it was published that they're gonna be released on 20th of May, but IDK if Amazon or Newegg are gonna ship them earlier. You'll just have to wait but go with Lurick's build that he suggested.

Why upgrade the gpu when you are only playing at 720p on probably a 30hz tv. Maybe you should invest the gpu money in for a better monitor for the ryzen 3 3300x

Ended up learning there was a Micro center about an hour away from me so I impulse bought

AMD athon 3000g

Crucial 2x8GB rgb 3200

Gigabyte b450 ds3h

Gigabyte rx570

For about $350.

My reason was just to get a system up and running on the AM4 platform, and wait until prices drop on Ryzen Zen 2 or even just wait until Zen 3.

I can run gtav and Batman Arkham Knight on medium settings 720 at over 60fps so right now I don't really need too much more power.

But maybe in a month or so when I can finally buy a 3100 or the 3300x who knows.
