Noob Question: Best Upgrade Path for 1660 TI?

ThePUNisher96

(Noob here, so sorry if this seems like a stupid question)

The CPU I'll be using is the Ryzen 5 3600, and I think I've settled on starting out with the GTX 1660 TI as my first GPU for a primarily gaming build when I build in the next month or so. It seems like a decent mid-range. However, I have a couple of questions:

1. Apparently the 5600 XT is a better card than the 1660 TI but it also has issues with causing crashes? Just how unstable is it? This would be my choice of GPU if there wasn't so much about it being unstable. I really would like to avoid spending much time troubleshooting if I could help it.

2. What's the upgrade path for a 1660 TI? My plan is to start with that and save up for some good GPU in the USD$700 - USD$900 range. Do I get a 2070 or 2080? Do I wait for NVIDIA's new 3000 series GPUs to come out and see what the offerings are there? Do I get some sort of an RX GPU? What would be the best GPU to upgrade to in terms of price/performance?

3.  I plan on going with at least a 600 W PSU so hopefully I won't run into any issues with that when I upgrade. However, what should I look for in a cooler? When would I know that a cooler would be the thing to upgrade with the GPU if I plan on just using the AMD stock cooler to start out with?

The 5600XT is better almost all the major bugs are gone.

you wait till new cards are out then buy. ether sell your old or keep it.

for these low end cards just get one that isn't horrible but given its a 120W card it is kinda hard to make a bad cooler.

if you are talking about a CPU cooler a small tower will do fine.

Get a good quality 550 or 650W.

What's your budget/country? The Rx 5700 should be close in price as is a fair bit faster.

Navi's drivers are fine now

you only need to upgrade your GPU from like an RX 5700 if you get like a 4k 120hz display, or in 2-4 years if game graphics change a bunch

your CPU bottlenecks your max fps/refresh rate

your GPU bottlenecks your quality settings and resolution.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Unless you need to include like a 1080p 144hz monitor you can get a 5700XT for that budget

granted this one has a basic cooler, but the performance is the same as other cards, fans might just run louder for example.

NR600 has some of the best in class airflow as well.

Motherboard and PSU pricing is crazy right now.

Monitor would be not included in the budget and I already do have an idea as to what I want in my build, but thanks for the suggestion!

Playing blu rays on PC may be a massive pain due to DRM still

This is the only network adapter with checkmarks for every feature anyways

and if you were going to get a TN panel, you might just want a 1080p 240hz display, or a 3440x1440p 100hz display at around the same price, since they're at least unique.

Good point. The main reason why I selected a blu-ray drive was so I could play my DVDs that I have but also have the ability to play blu-rays if I wanted to.

Can get a USB DVD for like $10-12

Or Xbox Ones are incredibly cheap now for media machines.

I have an external USB DVD drive for my laptop but it's a piece of garbage that really doesn't work so that was another driver in my quest for an internal optical drive
