If your Asrock X570 board is making a grating sound

Hi guys

 

So, my PC started making a this grating sound and at first I thought one of my case fans died, but it turn out it was actually the southbridge fan eating it's cable.The fan cable isn't really secured, so I imagine it gradually moved as I used the PC.

Don't know if this is something that happens a lot, but it seems like something that could be a recurring problem, so I made a video about it for future reference. Like any quality tutorial video, I made it in Windows video editor in 2 minutes using comic sans font.

Good job.

 

Though I probably would have used a drop of superglue or thread lock solution between cable and heatsink (if you have them in the house)

Tape adhesive can go bad from the heat and the tape can get loose after some time, and you may get the tape wrapped around the fan blades and then it's worse.

Yeah, I could've gone down to the garage to get something proper, but I couldn't be arsed honestly. It is gorilla glue duct tape, so it should be okay for a bit.
