Need advice on an AMP/DAC for €220 ($300)

Jobobee

Well if you're so smart why are you asking us? :P

I wouldn't use a tube amp with low-impedance phones like the AKGs, and the iCan looks like a good amp with marked up price because of all those "features" they add. I mean, if you want features, great, but I thought we were just talking about amps.

I'm just regurgitating what others have said :P.

True and true.

I was thinking of getting something quite warm seeing as the K702s are quite neutral.

Don't games do the virtual surround as part of the game? If that's the case, then it probably doesn't matter which DAC you use, It would just be a standard signal, as the game is what modifies each of the two channels to mimic surround.

I have no idea what I'm talking about, I may be talking out of my ass.

Eh, headphone/amp "pairing" is one of the Head-Fi mantras that just doesn't make real sense. If you want moar base it's best to get a headphone with more bass, ya know? I mean, even a simple EQ would do the trick better than buying an entire amp designed to not reproduce precisely what's put into it. That's what us NwAvGuy Fan Club members say, anyways.

Yeah, but if the OP wants Dolby Headphone then the OP wants Dolby Headphone.

Honestly, I don't like bass much.

Indeed!

Personally, I think the bass boost nipple on the FiiO E10 makes the AKGs sound pretty good. (not suggesting you get an E10 though)
