3D monitor with 3D glasses :)

Hey guys, I've got a BENQ XL2420T monitor, which supports nVidia 3D vision. I'd like to get a pair of glasses, but I'm finding many cheaper alternatives to the nVidia route.
Would different glasses work, i.e. "Active Shutter Glasses"? And would I have to get the nVidia emitter for that? Can't seem to find the info anywhere, so asking here :)
