Can anyone recommend a GPU for an older machine

Bruce_Hanna

I have a mid/high-level workstation built in 2015.  I am looking for a GPU upgrade.  The machine was built primarily for running CFD (Computation Fluid

Dynamics), not gaming.  As a result, the R7-250 was a cheap option that fit the bill.  I now want to play with flight simulators like (Flight Gear and X-Plane) and the

is current GPU is not adequate.  For X-Plane documentation the recommended is GPU is at least a GTX-1070 but isn't this the last generation.   At some point in

the next couple of years I may update the machine (motherboard, CPU and memory) but don't want to by a new GPU as well.  For the current machine, RGB is

a waste with a solid black tower case - function over pretty lights.

There is just so much information on Newegg, Amazon etc - it's hard to separate the junk and hype from the truly useful information.

I am thinking of a "2060 super" as I am not sure that going really high-end would be worth the already high prices.  But even narrowing down to

this, it's hard to determine a good brand or specific model.  Just too much confusing information.  Any recommendations will be entertained.

I have 1070 ti works very well and OC's quite good as well.

If you need one now then I'd say 2060 super as newer and decent price, or if you can wait for the new drops later this year and the 20xx series will be cheaper.

1080ti, forget about the rest. They should be 350-400$ on the used market and is literally the third fastest GPU out there

Thanks.  I see my posting the machine setup didn't get included.  The system spec is attached with a picture of

the system.  The I7-5930k is a fast enough system and the setup has lots of room for expansion.  I don't see upgrading it for a while.  It's also busy right now running folding@home cases.1408074025_systempicture.thumb.JPG.7507511ce10ec9b778c88ff47fcfb80e.JPGpresent-system.txt
