Need Help Fixing Crash

MahtXL

Peaked into event viewer to see why my MCC crashes (only while playing halo ce online and only after a match or 2 or 3) I dont know much about programming errors, etc. Ive asked a friend to send me his working dll to see if that fixes the issue, but why is this crash happening in the first place? It seems to be a very rare crash only effecting a small number of people, everything on the PC is updated fully, the only connecting thing is hardware (Navi)

go into steam, right click the game, properties>local files, then click on verify integrity of game files. if there is something wrong itll be fixed i believe

Either @piratemonkey or quote me when responding to me. I won't see otherwise

Put a reaction on my post if I helped

Nope. did that, reinstalled the game, Tried E V E R Y T H I N G. Still does it, still ONLY when playing online in Halo CE, nothing else crashes. I even tried 4 different gpu drivers, with clean installs. No good. Thats why im digging into event viewer now, theres nothing left i can do.

since it only happens online, could it be a network related driver

Not sure, weirdly ce online forces "old" graphics i played the entire story mode co op online with a friend using "enhanced" graphics, that combined with the dll event viewer error is pushing me to think something is up with the "old" graphics and my system not liking them. I think all my network drivers are up to date, and no other portion of the MCC online ever crashes, JUST halo ce and ONLY online with "old" graphics

it might be a graphics api problem. your gpu is a 5700xt. im not sure how compatible it is to dx9 or whatever those games used

Not much hope getting AMD to fix a dx9 issue sadly. 343 does note some people crashing in CE during the test flights, and most others with this issue are on Navi.

you could try to use a compatibility layer thing. i think windows has one built in for older programs. digging around in the menus you might find an option to use dx11 or vulkan

I think the entire game runs on dx 11. Store page has no mention of anything other than dx 11.1, and there are zero in game options for anything, seriously, resolution, fov, and "old vs new" graphics, thats all you get for video settings.
