scrren taring everywhere?

Using default settings of all games. get screen tearing in injustice1, minecraft with shaders and sonic DX. using pre-installed graphics driver on my system. ubuntu 16.04 os. have nvdia driver not open source version. minecraft has over 200 something to 300 frames with the shaders in 1080p. injustice1 and sonic are locked at 30 scene, 60 game, fps. why do i get so much tearing?

 

Oh and 8086k cpu + ssd so i doubt its a bottle neck.

main rig:

CPU: 8086k @ 4.00ghz-4.3 boost

PSU: 750 watt psu gold (Corsair rm750)

gpu:axle p106-100 6gbz msi p104-100 @ 1887+150mhz oc gpu clock, 10,012 memory clock*2(sli?) on prime w coffee lake igpu

Mobo: Z390 taichi ultimate

Ram: 2x8gb corsair vengence lpx @3000mhz speed

case: focus G black

OS: ubuntu 16.04.6, and umix 20.04

Cooler: mugen 5 rev b,

Storage: 860 evo 1tb/ 120 gb corsair force nvme 500

Screen tearing happens unless you do a frame rate cap of your monitor frame rate or use gsynch/freesynch

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

@Bombastinator I use a 4k, occasionally, but usually 1080p tv for a screen. how do i know my screen's frame cap? and whats free/G-sync?

@Constantinp106-100 6gb iw my gpu. in the pcie slot closest to rhe cpu cooler. and how did you put your system info after your posts?

Enable vsync in game.
