what would you build if you had unlimited money?

Ryzen 3990x

2x Quadro RTX 8000 in nvlink

ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme or something like that

Maximum amount of ram the motherboard supports (I think it's 256gb)

Some crazy amount of intel optane storage and fill all the m.2 slots with pcie 4.0 nvme drives

Murderbox MBX MKII case

I would have someone do a custom water loop for me because I wouldn't trust myself.

I'd never spend that amount of money on a car because it's a guaranteed loss. And a computer's worth declines even faster than a car's so no way I would spend such enormous sums on a PC. I am quite happy with my PC but if I really had some money to burn mindlessly I'd probably acquire a RTX 2080Ti and a Ryzen 3950x CPU. Other than that I already own my dream PC.

There is no replacement for RGB except more RGB ?

well when I gave the price I gave it was for computer components and programs I would run on it. like I would build the computer and then have a racing seat for racing or driving games, an interactive firing range like the very old duck hunt game but modern etc.etc. it just wouldn't be in the computer itself although that would be on the high end.

3990X (not for the reason you think)

Dual 2080ti or titains

dual 5700XT  (or whatever AMD flagship that is out with mac OS support)

256gb ram (would like 512 but eh)

4x4tb DC P4510 raid 10

4x4tb 860 evos raid 10

custom loop.

Running 2 OS.

Windows 10 with those 2080ti

I don't have a dream PC yet and I am already happy with my current computers.

But when I was young (more than 20 years ago), I remember my dream PC was a full set SGI Visual Workstation 540 (quad Pentium III Xeon) :

And also a visualization system SGI Onxy2 (up to 8 CPU MIPS R10000, up to 16GB RAM & up to 2 GPU InfiniteReality) :

what is your dream build? what would you build if you had unlimited money?

If money was not an issue I would go out the traditional way and instead of building a "gamer pc" I would build a virtual pc monster (similar to those used in streaming services) so that I can facilitate all my gaming needs where ever I go (as long as there is bandwidth fast enough to communicate with my pc monster :P) and to share gaming power with quite a few friends for lan parties (so that they dont need to bring all their rigs just plug into a monitor and a keyboard and they are ready to play with me as a team online or offline games)

So I would go something like 2 or 3U rack thing I would get Threadripper 3990X and overclock the hell out of it with some exotic yet stable cooling solution.

max out the RAM (which I chose mainly having latency in mind rather than bigger Mhz figures )  so I would prefere a cl 14 stick at 3200hz than a 4Ghz stick with latency of 25 or what not.  also I would try to increase capacity per stick rather than over all capacity to even more lower the latency.

10Gbit ethernet

4 x Nvida quadros RTX 8000 GPUs

and ofcourse everything would run out of super fast SSDs in raid :P

I would use linux as a base OS since I like it more anyways (more efficient and more stable among many other reasons) and KVM windows hosts to be able to play all games on bare metal performance.

It or variant of it has been posted multiple times in past. Its not seen is constructive discussion and unless its real build you are planning to build, those threads will be locked. Like this one. Essentially this will turn as PCPP Eeepeen contest.
