It looks like you should go with the 5700xt. As I said before, they will bundle together much better than anything from NVIDIA.The motherboard for Radeon and AMD systems is more affordable anyway.

Wondering if I'd be better off with a new 5700xt or a used gtx 1080

They perform almost the same, 1080 is a tiny bit faster.

What are the specs of your setup? AMD and NVIDIA don't play well so if you have a Ryzen processor I would go with the 5700xt. If not, the GTX 1080 is always a great option. Check out this link to see a benchmark comparison between the two: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1080-vs-AMD-RX-5700-XT/3603vs4045

So I'm half way through my build,

But the setup is going to be this, prices are AUD

Yeah, a 1080 is a tiny bit faster.

Price should be significantly different between those 2, how much?

What is your PC spec? PSU model, etc.

Show me other reliable review that 2070 is "ass alot faster" than the 5700xt. Not on 1 or 2 game.

Either card is fine for that build, i assumed a new 5700XT is better than 1080 overall but if price different is huge enough and 2nd hand 1080 could be more appealing.

Also which 5700XT and 1080? What games are you going to play?

That's not true right? Do you have anything to back this up?

I run completely mixed hardware on all of my systems and have run into no issues.

Yeah that's what i thought, in fact AMD FX processor actually perform better on Nvidia GPUs compare to AMD GPUs because of it better threaded driver.

I still stand by my recommendation on the 5700xt. The performance is a bit better and it handles multi threaded tasks like a boss.

Old news, Nvidia already canceled the program. If you don't want to buy Nvidia because of their shitty business practice, that's fine to me but don't misinformed other people just because you don't like the company.

I still recommended the correct card based on pure specifications, not reputation.

The beginning of the article was about NVIDIA cancelling the program which triggered AMD's response.

Msi gaming x for the 5700xt, and the 1080 would depend on what I could find,

Mainly play single player story driven games, also play games like borderlands, eve online, occasionally call of duty

Nope, 2070 is about 10-15% faster than the 1080. And the 5700xt is sandwiched between the 2070 and 2070s performance wise.

Except every review ever hasnt come to that conclusion.

Spoiler

Screenshot_20200308_101435.thumb.jpg.d929c07412da2137480cbbe2b8157347.jpg

This is vs the 2070s which is a good bit faster than the 2070. Which again is 10-15% faster than the 1080. Not to mention the edge Turing, GCN and RDNA has in modern low level APIs.

Please stop making unsubstansiated claims. Its not the first time.
