What upgrades can you do to a laptop?

I am receiving an older laptop from a friend (i dont know the specs yet) and i was wondering what upgrades you can possibly do to a laptop.

RAM, storage (usually an SSD these days), and the Wifi card are commonly upgradable... More expensive laptops sometimes have everything interchangable, but that's quite rare.

Depends on the laptop.

Some half soldered RAM, storage, etc. In which case, nothing.

Mostly common upgrade would be installing additional RAM modules, and upgrading or adding a SSD. Less common upgrade would be installing a new CPU (personally did this in the Core 2 Duo days), and even less common would be upgrading the videocard. Like above, it would depend on what is/isnt soldered to the board.

Just dont expect adding anything to it, usually you replacing something (e.g. HDD to SSD)
