  1. I reset my bios and then made sure the boot order is correct.
  2. It is detected, but it won't boot to the SSD
  3. So I reset my PC the other day to solve a performance issue, and it blue screens a few times a day now... But today, just a few minutes ago, I got a BSOD and the error message was "critical process died" and now my boot device, an Adata SU655, isn't recognized and when I turn my PC on, I get an error. What do I do? Specs: Ryzen 5 2600X RTX 2070 Super 2x 8gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3600mhz MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC 960gb SU655 Bitfenix Formula Gold 650 Watt
  4. okay, so how do I properly backup everything if I don't have another drive to put copies of files onto?? Should I just try to borrow something from a friend?
  5. I currently have a 960gb Adata SU655 in my system, and it's dramless and doesn't perform as well as I would like it to. I would like to buy an M.2 ssd (probably a Samsung 970 EVO 2tb or something... any suggestions?) and move my OS and files to that, format my current drive, and use it as a second storage device in my computer. What are the steps involved in completing this?
  6. I just realized... I turned on "hardware accelerated gpu scheduling" in windows settings a couple weeks ago, to see what it did. Should I try turning that off?
  7. I found that bitdefender was constantly using around 25% cpu, 15% ram, and a little bit of gpu usage. I have uninstalled it, for now at least, and it seemed to have helped a little. I'm also looking at temps and at idle, cpu is 42°C, gpu is 55°C, ram is 42°C, and my SSD is 50°C... All of those seem a little bit high but not awful. I'm going to reset all BIOS settings and see what happens then.
  8. I removed all AMD drivers, and deleted them, and deleted all old files for them and installed Nvidia drivers. I've swapped GPUs before. I also have all the latest driver and windows updates. Next steps?
  9. Yes. I went from an RX580 to this RTX 2070S a couple months ago. Temperatures all seem fine, CPU max of 55° usually, GPU max of 75-80. SSD and ram all seem to be good temps too...
  10. I have noticed some odd slowdowns recently... Occasional momentary hangups in programs like task manager or Chrome. Do you have any suggestions for troubleshooting?
  11. I'm running at 1080p on a slightly older samsung monitor, OC'd to 75hz. Currently, on medium settings, I'm getting 50-60 fps with regular stuttering and freezing in game, but any higher settings and it goes down to ~30 fps or so. So you're saying that it would be better to buy a better SSD, like a samsung 860 or something, and that should improve my performance?
  12. I just bought and downloaded Star Wars Battlefront 2 (the new one) and the framerate wasn't very good at anything above medium settings. My specs: Ryzen 5 2600x at 4.05 Ghz Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super OC Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 2x8gb 3200mhz 650 Watt 80+ gold PSU MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC Adata SU655 960gb I was thinking that maybe the slowest parts of my PC now are the SSD and the CPU... Which one would benefit the performance more with an upgrade?
  13. I've done that, and nothing has changed. I've switched out my mouse, keyboard, headphones, and cables with extras and nothing has changed. I've also done one at a time in each port.
  14. As the title says, I keep getting the USB connect/disconnect sound playing OVER AND OVER again. I don't want to just mute the noise like my googling has said to do. I want to fix the problem causing the noises entirely. Any tips?
  15. I just bought myself a OnePlus 8. I want to keep the battery as healthy as possible for hopefully the next three or so years. However, I like charging overnight. So far, I usually get my device down to 45% on weekdays and 20% most weekends. Would it help my battery to use a 5V 1A slow charger overnight so I don't have to worry about keeping it at 100% for a long period of time while I sleep?
  16. I'm 18 years old and I just started learning how to be my family's "IT support/tech guy" a year or so ago. Would you mind explaining how I would go about performing a continuity test?
  17. My family wanted to move our Modem and Router setup to a different room, and there's a coaxial port in the wall right where we want to move it. I set everything up properly, but there was no internet connection. Now, this house is around 30 years old and was made as cheaply as possible. I bought a brand new coaxial cable that was shielded and had the best reviews for this project... so I thought that perhaps my problem was the cable. But both the new cable and the old cable work in the port in the other room, and neither works in the new room. What do i do here?
  18. I was planning on buying whatever is the highest watt-charger size ratio charger there is... if there's a 100 Watt charger that's small enough to fit in my pocket, then great... but so far I've been looking at a 65 Watt one that's only a couple inches wide.
  19. I bought a laptop a few weeks ago. It's a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3. It has two thunderbolt 3 ports that are said to be PD, or Power Delivery. Does that mean they can charge devices, or they can be used to charge my laptop? I'm asking because the 135 Watt charger that came with my laptop is a little big, and if I want to bring my laptop and a charger somewhere but keep it all low profile (such as in a laptop sleeve), then it would be nice to be able to just bring a small wall charger and USB C cable. Any information or tips would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.
  20. I use a Bitfenix Formula Gold 650 Watt... I flipped the power switch on the back, and my power strip had the same light on. I will try a different powerstrip, and actually yes, the line of power these outlets are on runs through 4 rooms in the house and is on one breaker. The whole place was wired terribly. The outlets are also not very good. I plan to replace every outlet in the house.
  21. I have a 650 watt power supply in a system I built myself. I looked at my power strip earlier, and it had an indicator light on that means there's an overload somewhere. I unplugged and replugged power cables until the light went out. It was the cable going to my PSU. The PC hasn't been on in days, so my question: how much poeer does a turned off system use, and if none, should I look into replacing my PSU and/or powerstrip? Both are less than a year old.
  22. Thanks. I'll do that. And since you're here, I have no idea if you'll even know the answer to this, but do you know why NO ONE has made a review of this laptop on YouTube? And I could only find a couple review articles on Google. Its the Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 3
  23. I know. But Nvidia releases new drivers all the time, and windows update doesn't alsays catch it. Would Geforce Experience be a good thing to have for that purpose?
