New Build needs GPU, should I get 2070S or 1080ti

I'm down to the last purchase before I can go operational on my new build.  I've waited until the last thing on the GPU.

 

I'm was thinking about buying a RTX 2070 Super.  Checked on ebay, it looks like I can get a used 1080ti for a hundred dollars less.

 

What do you guys think?  A 1080ti could be a bit faster, but the 2070S is more current...

 

I don't think that I can wait until the Nvidia 30 series comes out.

If you need ray tracing, 2070S. If you don't, 1080 Ti. Just make sure to really put that card through its paces as soon as you get it. eBay cards are sometimes baked back to life...for a couple weeks.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

1080Ti is not worth that small difference.

2070 Super is by far better

2070s performs just a bit better iirc, with a $100 price gap assuming used is fine i don't see why not.

Go for a 2070 Super. You MIGHT save some money now, but you have no idea what happened to the 1080ti so far and you have NO waranty on the 1080ti.

2070S is the better choice IMO. The 1080 Ti performs better in older games but most newer games the 2070S is equal or better which is going to become more of a trend as time passes. The 2070S will age much better.

Are all the 2070 Super cards about the same?  I'm not seeing anything that makes me want to buy with model/brand over another.

1080 Ti actually outeperforms the 2070S far more often than not, only difference is the latest games now that have improved Async compute.

 

But the idea is that whoever has the 1080 Ti is good to go while someone looking into buy new might wanna consider the 2070S instead.

I would suggest the 2070sup. I don't fancy buying used ex-flagship cards with high TDP values. Not without 1.5-2 years of warranty left. 

 

Imho, the newer Turing GPU is a better choice for most 

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )
