Speaker and more recommendations!

I want to spend between $200-$400 on some audio equipment for myself however, I know nothing...

 

I read the recommendation stuff but don't really understand it too much. For Christmas about 4 or 5 years ago I was given Two Polk Speakers (Polk Audio Atrium 4 Outdoor Speakers with Powerful Bass) and a cheap digital AMP (Lepai LP-2020A+ Tripath TA2020 Class-T Hi-Fi Audio Amplifier). I currently Aux into my AMPfrom my PC while having the AMP connected to the speakers with an "Speaker Wire Cable" (not sure if that's right)

 

I want better quality but I want speakers. I'm not super interested in getting headphones right now mainly focused on getting speakers and looking to get headphones later. If I could get recommendation for anything that'd be amazing! I have no problem getting multiple things for my desk like an AMP or DAC or even a Combo thingy (not sure what that is...)

 

Also if anyone has some informational videos or articles I'd love to know more.

The Elac Debut 2.0's are one of the best bang for your buck speakers in your price range, they have great reviews, I have a set that I love. My audiophile bother loves them, i recommend checking them out.

That said if you want a more elegant PC speaker solution I recommend the Bose Companion 20's, they are actually really good and my brother doesn't hate them at all so that's saying something.

If you go with the Bose Companion 20's I wouldn't get an amp, there is no need. I have this DAC, although i stopped using it out of laziness, I like it though.

Honestly there's too many options now a days to zero in on "the best" so I'd recommend making sure you have a system that's easy to use over much else. Something with a built in amplifier will be ease to setup, and might as well find one with optical input as well. I personally like a forward-facing volume knob, but maybe you'd like an IR remote?. Think about additional inputs for phone use. An angled chasis can help you point them at your head better, which can make a big difference on how the treble sounds. MAybe you can sacrifice some features to save money?

Right on budget the mackiemr 624 for a powered speakers but if you have all the source gear the paradigm see atom might be up your alley. Or you could go for a topping pa3 as an amp and a micca rb 42 .

Oh yeah, and a phono pre-amp for adding a turntable if you ever wanted to.

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)
