Ryzen 3700X what Motherboard / RAM?

Hello Guys,

im Currently still using an old i5 3750k and it was able to run everything without any problems for years

i dont if there was an update or my pc is slowly dying because stuff that worked fine days ago doesnt work anymore

1) i cant play games & watch youtube or plex at the same time anymore

2) i cant programm android applications because the emulator is slowing down my pc to a point that i just ragequit (1 week ago i was able to emulate + watch moves + use google chrome without problems)

im not really sure what cpu to get, but because i used my old cpu for 8 years i guess i couldnt go wrong with a Ryzen 7 3700X

What do i have to pay attention to if im buy RAM / Motherboard?

I never build AMD

Can i grab any X570 Board & any 3200mhz 32GB  Ram?

Do you guys have any recommendation for motherboard/ram?

i would pref a motherboard for <200€ with options to maybe later fully watercool it

edit: currently theres a deal for

Crucial Ballistix Sport LT weiß DIMM Kit 32GB, DDR4-3200, CL16-18-18 (BLS2K16G4D32AESC) 130€

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8x 3.6GHz So AM4 65 Watt, boxed mit Wraith Prism Kühler 294€

AMD MSI X570 Pro Carbon Wifi Mainboard 189€

does that sound good?

3700x sounds like a good option for you. pair it with an asus or gigabyte x570 board. you can try to find 3600 ram if not much more expensive than 3200.

Do not get the pro carbon x570. It’s a shit board. I’d recommend the x570 TUF Gaming if you can afford it. And I’ve heard good things about the X570 Aorus series.

id recommend a 3600Mhz CL16 kit. It’s the sweet spot for Ryzen

Gaming Build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 3800x   |  GPU: Asus ROG STRIX 2080 SUPER Advanced (2115Mhz Core | 9251Mhz Memory) |  Motherboard: Asus X570 TUF GAMING-PLUS  |  RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3600MHz 16GB  |  PSU: Corsair RM850x  |  Storage: 1TB ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro, 250GB Samsung 840 Evo, 500GB Samsung 840 Evo  |  Cooler: Corsair H115i Pro XT  |  Case: Lian Li PC-O11

Peripherals:

Monitor: LG 34GK950F  |  Sound: Sennheiser HD 598  |  Mic: Blue Yeti  |  Keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB Platinum  |  Mouse: Logitech G502

Laptop:

Asus ROG Zephryus G15

Ryzen 7 4800HS, GTX1660Ti, 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz, 512GB nVME, 144hz

NAS:

QNAP TS-451

6TB Ironwolf Pro

If you can find some affordable DDR4-3600 with worse timings I would probably say to go with that, but I wouldn't go worse than cl18 otherwise your combined latency will start to suck. The infinity fabric and memory clock give better latency if they run the same speed, and most ddr 3600 is a pretty safe spot to shoot for, all 3 of my ryzen samples have run 1:1 fclock no issue at that ram speed. That being said, the difference between that and 3200 cl 16 isn't that much.

The Aorus elite is a pretty great board for its price, but lately it's been a little outclassed by the Asus TUF, which became less expensive lately. They're both quite good though so don't feel bad about picking either one.

Trident Z neo is definitely one of the pricier kits because of its looks, but if you're spending extra on pretty ram it's hard to go wrong

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

i could get

ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus (Wi-Fi) Mainboard Sockel AM4 (Ryzen 3000 kompatibel, ATX-, PCIe 4.0, DDR4, USB 3.2, Aura Sync)

for 225€
and i just picked the ram because its 32gb 3600mhz & cl16 i dont really care about optics :)

upside of the gskill neo kits is because they're advertised as ryzen compatible they tend to be on your QVL for pretty well all the X570 motherboards so there's a small bit of piece of mind with that

if you want to cut the cost down you could pick a less pricey option with potentially worse timings, drop a cl or 2. The main benefit of running 3600 is going to be running a faster fabric-clock, the tighter timings are a nice to have but they get pricey for what small improvements they offer. I would personally suggest B-die if you're planning to manually tighten timings, but most decent b-die kits get pretty expensive or unavailable (the research to find it can also suck for first time people). Most non-rgb options cost less, so that's an easy way to find an identical kit at a better price.

Another option is to find a higher clocked kit of memory with bad timings, and then underclock the ram to 3600 and tighten timings manually using the ryzen ram calculator (google it) as a rough guide. I haven't seen many deals in that range though.

just be aware, you may need to do a BIOS update at the start of your build since there have been many iterations since the initial board launch date
