Hey all. Looking to do a first time build to replace an ancient Asus laptop. not exactly sure of budget, around 1400-1700. Gaming of course. I wanna be able to play at least most games on ultra. Ive been watching lot of LTT videos but I must say Im still very anxious about it. I am located in Wisconsin, USA.

Had something like this in mind

May or may not get a lesser monitor to save $ and then add a better one later.

Thoughts and suggestions?

Yeah, there's no point in going over what is wrong with your initial picks. Plouffe's configuration is much better in every way except for the case, which is junk compared to the Enthoo Pro.

I would personally avoid curved monitors though. Had some 'meh' experiences with them. You're better off buying the AOC 24G2U or a 144Hz QHD not curved monitor.

Don't get an Intel CPU, the R5 3600 is legit nearly identical in gaming performance, and better in multi-core workloads. Also AM4 is not a dead platform, where as there is no upgrade path on that Z390 motherboard for a new gen CPU. That or wait for the new gen of Intel CPU's.

That case is a waste of space for the hardware you have though I guess it's cheap for what it is, the HDD is an SMR one which means bad write speeds even by HDD standards (more than 64MB cache at this capacity will be SMR), no SSD so it sucks in responsiveness, Crappy board only worth $120 at most, two CPU coolers of which the better one is only enough (not great) for overclocking the 9600KF, and the 240HZ monitor that I assure you, will not run above 100Hz at this setup with adaptive sync enabled in games normally you would want to run at ultra settings.

In the current market, I'd recommend going for a RX 5700 XT now, and upgrading later.

I would avoid the 5700 XT until AMD gets their shit together. It's a good time to buy Nvidia cards.
